How long to dry bud

I live in the New England area an am hanging the buds in my closet.i had cut a broken branch off earlyer In the season and only hung it up for 2 days I then put it in the jar and have done the whole burping thing for 2 weeks.the smell before I put it in the jar was great but after a week in the jar it smelled like hay and now it really dosent have a smell at all so should I dry longer ????

Yea I read and did that but I'm just going to assume that I just picked them too early but why does it smell good then hay and now nothin really?

Do it for another 2 weeks....you may end up with non-smelling weed, but that would be strange. They hay smell may be genetic in this case.....
