Hello all, I was wondering how long a seedling will feed itself with the nutrients(or energy) it has stored before seeking out nutrients in the soil or growing medium? Does this depend on if there are nutrients readily available in the soil for the seedling to feed upon? Or does the seedling automatically use up all it's nutrients first then seek other nutrients at that point? Thanks all.

It has@2-3 days of energy stored in the cotyledons (starch).
As soon as you have the RAM root apical meristem, it should start feeding from the root.
The Plants plants always feeding. What ever it doesn't need gets stored as simple sugars or starch. The roots will grow all the time, they have no choice. Therese an acid secreted by the roots that helps break down nutrients, the roots also have symbiosis with the fungi in the soil.
The fungi help break down nutrients for the roots to take up.
