I have a pound of bud in 19 pint mason jars.weed is very dry, a friend tells me it will go bad ,it has to last until 4-20 the day i retire , will it still be good and how long can I except it to stay good in sealed jars
I'm not sure of a definate answer, but I can tell you that vacuum sealing your herbs will definatly preserve them. I can't tell you if it will last until April, though...I hoped I helped a little...
From my understanding in sealed jars it should last at least 6 months and maybe longer if they contain the right moisture content. Check the sticky's in the curing section, might have better info.
Hello empty coyote. I've read on riu somewhere that someone had a few jars of bud that were 10 Years old and tasted just as good as the day that they cured them or even a little bit better There is also quite a few people on the same thread that had 5-7 year old bud that was really good too. I can't remember where i saw it as it was a few months ago now, sorry... But it was i think in the Harvesting & Curing section somewhere.
Good luck with your Retirement
I'm pretty sure he means 4/20...as in April 20th of next year. Must be having to hold off smoking due to drug testing at work, and when he retires, he's gonna start burning thru that pound he has saved up!
You can add moisture back by putting a small slice of apple in the closed jars for a day. Put the apple slice in a wrap of paper towel so it does not touch the buds.
If you want to save the buds for many years, put it in the fridge. If you use the freezer, do not thaw out the buds and refreeze them or handle them while frozen. Smoke them if thawed. Freezer pot can go for decades. I assume you want to smoke this stuff next year, but offer the long view.
manditroy got it right ,i will retire on april 20 (4-20) until then to many drug tests at work ,think maby ill try to kill that pound in the first month .that a joke, i havent smoked anything in 25 years and this stuff is better than the mexican bag weed i smoked 30 years ago im looking forward to the day
