HOW MANY BENDS CAN I MAKE IN THE DUCTING ATTACHED TO A CARBON FILTER INTO A AIR COOLED HOOD THEN INTO THE FAN AND THEN TO ATMOSPHERE .

THE FAN IS A RUCK 125, BECAUSE OF THE AREA BEING SMALL ( 7.5 SQF )
THERE ARE 3 90 DEGREE BENDS WILL THIS BE OK.

PLUS REP FOR WHOEVER CAN GIVE ME GOOD ADVICE ON THIS ISSUE.

THANKS IN ADVANCE :peace:

Straight with no bend is the most efficient. A thirty degree curve cuts up to 20% of air transmission, forty-five degree cuts up to 40%, and a ninety degree cuts up to 60%.

Just go ahead and put it together and see how it works. It is either going to work or not. Doesn't matter about percentage reductions if you have a problem ,then back to the drawing board and figure out how to straighten the bends. The best way to learn still is first hand experience and that is what you'll remember down the line. Good luck

This doesn't answer your question, but could you use flexible duct instead of elbows?
Someone else may know its advantage or disadvantage with the pressure drop.

Flex ducting can help. Gentle bends are a LOT better then sharp turns.
One down side of the flex (some types) is the inside surface tends to be corrugated. This will break the laminar flow. But the gentle bends can more then make up for it. Try elbows with a radius of 3 times the diameter.

thanks guys, great response times, as soon as i put it all together ill have a better idea, have gone over kill on the fan for this reason, area = 38cm3 fan = 290cfm, im hoping this will compensate for bends. : )

Those inline fans are fine but some brands can be a bit loud. Sometime stealthy is compromised by the excess noise put off by some of those fans. Though like I said before, try it without if that isn't right add the inline. In the end it is your decision and your own unique design and that is one of the things that make growing (To me) so much fun. I love designing and building things. Just one of the reasons I do wish this was legal in my state. Would love to show off my room to others with out having to worry about the law. I love doing this and wish I could share it and my enthusiasm for it. Sorry for the ramble. Good luck.

decided to use the fan filter combo in the top left of the closet ( tight to the roof )

running in a straight line to exhaust vent, for the best efficency, not going to bother

with air cooled hood ( 400hps diamond reflector on order instead ). i think this is the

most suitable set up for the budget and space that ive got, getting a recirculating

fan, maybe 2, one to blow on the bulb, the other to recreate light breeze for

seedlings. some very valuable info here plus rep to all posts - peace
