how many btu for a mini split

I'm asking on subcools area because I know he knows hvac. My buddy has a 3 room setup each room has 12 1000w hoods, not air cooled. Each room is exhausted using a 2000cfm vortex. Thinking of getting a mini split as temps are getting high now. I looked at one 3 zone system its 33,000 BTU. Is that total? What should I be looking to get? I live in Michigan.

not enough and a slip system wont cut the mustard, although if you went the vented hood way it would work, room size, current temps and humidity helps with the number crunching, but by the btu output of the lights i would say no

it you exaust an air conditioned room, you exaust the air you just cooled. where is the intake pulling air from? probably someplace warmer than you want... the benefit of a mini split is that the room you are cooling can be sealed. air cooled hoods in a sealed room with a mini split and co2... that is the cats ass my friend. open air hoods are effective only if you have enough a/c to deal with the heat.

Veg room is on from 6pm to 12pm, so most of the time the air comin in will be cooled. And the flower rooms are 8-8, opposite from each other. So one at night one during the day. Lots of fresh air coming in. But the daytime room is gonna be the problem.
