How many tries till female plant?

I just had to get rid of my first plant I have been growing for a couple months (it was male). How many plants have some of you gone through before you got a good female?

buy fem seeds or, take a clone and put it into fl owering so you dont waste all that time, they show quick, its different for everyone my friends first two plants were nice fems but me i have had quite a few males till i found my special lady

Yo sick blunt in the pic..I'd start with four plants (at least) then you should get at least one or two females.

I had 8 fem seeds and only 2 turned out female.

Another question...I had some pretty good bud and found 1 seed in the whole oz. Does this seed have a better chance coming out female? I just started flowering the plant from that seed I sure hope its female.

I usually run about 50/50, but my first grow of the spring season of 25 came out with 19 fem's. Sounds good except I now have many more coming behind them from better stock and I wanted to limit myself to 25 this grow. I'm in a sticky situation of actually pulling fem's for the first time. Just waiting for the other plants to sex out so I can decide how many to get rid of. So a good thing has turned around and bit me on the arse.
