how many watts is need for growing a single plant using flouros ?

im using flouros and i love the fact they dont use much electricity and the fact they don't give off much heat but im curious of the correct wattage right now my step up is a 35 watt desert uvb fluorescent light and a grow light which is also fluorescent and is 75 watts.

Sorry. The above post isn't neccesarily 100% true. You really need only about 100W per plant to have adecent yeild. 200W is better but most people have had AWESOME results with around 100W or maybe a less. Just saying.

Lumens don't divide. They only scatter.

Get a nice 200watt horticultural grade flouro, or 150 high pressure sodium for your closet. Why waste 100 days with anything less?

Make sure you know the difference between actual wattage and equivalent wattage. Plants will barely grow with a single 100 watt equivalent bulb. You will need about 30-50% more CFl wattage as compared to a HID setup due to the loss of efficiency over something like an HPS light. What you could grow with a 100 Watt HPS is going to take 130-150 watts of CFL bulbs. Make sure you plan for ventilation, CFL bulbs get things hot too.
