How much can I take in a topping?

I have two phenos that are much taller and lankier than their sisters. I wasnt able to do proper upkeep on them and long story short they are a foot or so taller than the others. Could I take a full foot off the tops of these plants or is that too stressful?

I would avoid topping that much and just tie them down.. if that stalk isn’t to tough and rigid already LST will be your best route

I had a pair like that in my current grow. Just shot up much taller than any of the others, so I just topped it where I wanted to and let it recover. It took a couple of weeks of veg for it to get going again, but it did and all is well with it. The key is recovery time.

I wouldn't top exactly where you want if you want them the same size roughly. As stated before you'll probably need quite the recover time so your other plants will outpace them for a period. All of this though may not matter much in the end, in my experience the ones that grow taller stretch like a motherfucker. If it were me I'd tie them down, and MIGHT top them depending on the particular grow.

Good point, when I say where I wanted to, I should have said in relation to the other plants so they came out more or less the same when I come to flower.
