How much coler is a 600w HPS bulb then a 1000w

help please. I need to cool my room down quick status. Ive tried all i can when i comes to ventilation for the room. the 1000w bulbs are just too damn hot.
 
Ballpark guess would be 40% cooler just based on wattage. Maybe some efficiency differences so throw in a 5% margin of error. So 35-45% cooler? =P
 
What are your temps and ventalation set up? A 600 is not going to drop the closet 10 degrees. Maybe a few if at all... My friend runs a 600w and I run a 1000w and we both use air cooled hoods and run 6" cent. fans. I've never compared them side by side but his doesn't feel that much cooler than mine. With the fans and hoods there is no heat problem. Mine is in a 4x4x6 1/2 high box and the temps are the same as ambient.

try cooling your lights with the ventalation
 
i appreciate th help, but read the first post...i have tried everything when it comes to ventilation. I already have an A/C in the room. The light are in cool tubes, with a 650 cfm fan and a 250 booster fan. The room is 5'x6'x8'. The room is as cool as its going to get without buying another A/C or using lower wattage bulbs.
 
how many btu's is the air conditioner? two 1k watt bulbs in that size of an area is going to get pretty damn hot. a 6100 btu air conditioner will cool a 8x10 room just fine with a single 1k bulb.
 
How is your exhaust set up????I have 1000 watt with air cooled hood with 5200 btu ac in a guesstimated 4x8x8 area and my temps are ideal lows of 70 highs of 80,and I live in a very hot area.And I run my light cycle at night.
 
i would rather put the money towards some Co2 rather then another A/C. I have 2 1000w lights, so even if you have one in an area like that, This is more light and more heat. I repeat this is 2 1000w lights, check the link i put in one of my replies on this thread.

well by reading your first post, you are saying you need help controlling your heat. that is the issue here right??

So in that case, why would you invest in a C02 setup as opposed to another AC unit, when you clearly are having a temp problem? :wall: and i'm aware that you have two 1k lights.

Yeah but how do you ventilate your air,my 5200 btu handles my 1000 watt light easily,plus cools my veg areas and it's not on full blast,so I know I could run another 1000 with no prob......I had issues with the way I set up my ventilation at first when I installed my a/c so now I get cool air from outside strictly for the air cooled hood that exhaust back outside,my carbon filter sits in the grow room and filters the air but I don't exhaust outside because that sucks out cold air so the air simply recirculates in the room and cools down the whole room very nicely and filters the smell.........You know what would of been a nice investment instead of 2 1000 watt lights 1 1000 watt light on a light mover,thats my next move.
 
If you guys click on the link to the flower room you will see the setup. I have done anything and everything to control temps. I have all the knowledge needed to get my temps as low as they can be when its 105-110 out here. Co2 would help the plants cope with the heat and increase the yield at the same time, nother A/C wont do that. And besides in about 2 months that A/C wont even be needed as much. Im just sticking to my 1000w lights, and getting some Co2. Seriously, check out the flower room CLICK HERE.
 
Ohh k your doing vertical set up,didn't some other dude pull 46 zips off of 1 600??You went overkill with 2 1000 in that space........you are right Co2 will help your plants cope with heat much better,but wouldn't 1 1000 be sufficient...........?????
 
I have an area the same size and I run two 430s,I have two new 600 lumiteck and there too hot for my room with a7000BTU AC.I pulled 3lb out of that room on one harvest so I think its probably too much light,( Im only useing a 4 inch fan)
 
The setup that mine is based off of is a 6' diameter, and mine is 5'. So I dont think its too much light for just one run. I will be switching to 3 600w next time, with an additional tier. The problem with just 1000w light, is that there isnt enough room to hit all the plants with good light.
