i know some odor can be expected, but i wanted to know exactly what to expect. if the grow is in my room. which is in the basement of our house, will the smell spread throughout the house? keep in mind i will have a carbon filter adequate enough for the 4x4x 6 grow tent in which the grow will take place. also, it will consist of only 2 plants.

Short answer: Growing weed stinks alot
Long answer: If your filter is truly adequate for your tent then in theory there should be no smell, but the fact of the matter is weed stinks. If you're trying to hide the grow from your parents, they'll find it. Everytime you open the tent you're letting stink out, any corner can leak and as far as i'm concerned theres no such thing as 100% odour stealth.
Having said that, a scrubber combined with some ona gel can do a pretty damn good job.

lol it would be kind of hard to hide a 96 square foot tent. the reason im doing this is because my original grow location is no longer available for me to use, and i've already purchased all of the neccesities , including the seeds. so rather than waste my money, i was going to have a semi legit garden in my room (which i would be permitted to do so by my family) im just hoping i can sneak 2 or three weed plants in there along side the others. i am yet to decide what it is i will be growing next to the weed, i was thinking tabocco since my mother smokes. But probably a more practical choice would be something that has a strong odor and can help mask the odor, or overwhelm that of the weed. any ideas on what i should grow?

I would think you would want a lot of herbs then. Like basil, oregano, sage, .... stuff like that to mask the smell. I've never grown herbs with my "herbs" but my understanding is that they grow very well in the same type of conditions. Also if you can, I would try to vent it outside then you have less to worry about.

if your growing only 2 plants than those plants could potentially get very big if you let them. Why not do that and take the extra precaution to cover the smell? I would look into an ozone generator in combination with your scrubber.
...Maybe dump the tent air into another smaller tent were you would have the ozone generator then scrub that air and vent outside. If you can thats what i would do.

Good weed should stink, it goes with the territory.
If it don't stink, it ain't worth growing.
Do your utmost to filter that shit...but it's an uphill battle.

It will smell, and 3x the smell in flower.
If odar is an issue a carbon filter will remove all of it if used correctly.
You can build your own or buy one off the sheilf.
