how much light do i need?

Hey, I'm planning on growing two plants in the near futur, this will be my second grow and I am looking to upgrade my lighting. How powerful of a light should I buy for optimal yield per dollar?

It depends on how big you want to grow your plants. If you wanna do 2 monster trees i;d use a 1000w. But usually at a minimum use 50w/sq. ft. of growing area. 100 + w/ sq. ft is ideal though. If your gonna spend the money i'd get a 1000. Its a little more expensive then say a 400 or 600 w but it has the lowest $/watt ratio.

well depends on what youve got lol.. but ima throw this out there anywayz not know a 400 or 600 watt mh/hps conversion light setup is the best i would suggest gettin an aircooled or cooltube for the heat these kinds of lights put off. or if you get a regular hood just make sure youve got enough circulation.
