How much light exposure is too much?

My plant is in flowering 12/12. occasionally at night after the timer has gone off the closet gets opened and exposed to the light of my room. Is this bad if it happens no more then 5 minutes in a night. or occasionally for a minute. is this too much? or nothing to worry about?

All I can say is it isn't good for the plant, and your risking the sex of your babies.

Not good not good. They will be fine but leave them alone when the lights are out, as it only takes a bit of this happening and the plants could start vegging again if already flowering or they will take for ever to show signs of sex, and can even cause hermies..... Just an unneeded extra stress on your plants IMO....

your pretty much just confusing the plant, technically you have a chance of getting a hermie, but if anything it will just mess with its schedule and maybe take it longer to fully flower, I was dealing with the same problem, but it was barely any light at all, 2 weeks into flower i noticed it, i got it all fixed now though.. good luck to you, and keep us updated

if you must look at your plants or do anything in your closet..not sure the size i got a walk in with stuff in it...but anyway you can use green bulbs and you wont hurt the plant. plants do not use green light it is the only color not obsorbed so its reflected which is why you see green plants

Hey sorry to bring this thread back but Im dealing with the same situation with a simple question:

My rooted clone who has 2-3 more weeks of veg'n left was SUPPOSED to be sleeping but 2 of the lower cfl lights were not turned off (Thank u brother) for like an hour..then i turned them all off..spiked to 89 too.

Sometimes I run 18/6 and sometimes i have to cut the lights early because I dont have proper "night time" closure when it comes to my box lol. I have to kinda maintain it myself for now so instead fo risking little light hitting it I just make it go to sleep an hour early and ill wake it up an hour early...sometimes.

Am I risking some shock? That would suck for my one and only...literally

You can use a green light in your room, they produce good light source and they are not affecting the dark period of the plant, but use them as little as possible. After all you don't want to be waken up earlier when you dodo ;)
