How much light is too much light?

I'm curious if anyone has an answer. I know there is such a thing as too much light (light burn) but at what point is it too much? For example, if you keep your light 12" away from your canopy what is the max par reading you think would be healthy? 1000? 2000? At 24"?

I have been looking at these Optic 6 and Optic 4 Cob LED's because of their really high par ratings but I need to figure out the height I need to keep them away from the plants.

Thanks for your responses in advance :)

I guess I can't post a link until tomorrow lol "optic led grow lights" dot

i'm not sure, but it'd depend on stage of life too. maybe ask this in the LED board, lots of those guys have mass data (and PAR meters :P). all i know is LEDs can definitely burn plants as it's happened to me even at 42" above canopy, although maybe it's just the UV in my light that's causing it.

It is an interesting question and it would be neat to have a catch all number. I have never heard one though (it may exist)
I just lower it as much as I can before damage occurs and I can still get light across the whole canopy.

hey thanks for the reply. According to this guy you can't burn your plants with UV lights. Good info all around "you tube" /watch?v=QRAU0ziyDpo

There is no "max" at 12"/24" the meter will keep changing values everytime you move the light, every light with different specs will show different values at 12"/24" ect so how can a "max" exist?

Are you trying to ask how much light is too much for the canopy? You would probably want to keep an eye on your strains/phenos going beyond 800 ppfd at the canopy.
