How much or little do you think the US should intervene in foreign affairs?

Human rights abuses in North Korea, rampant sex trade in southeast Asia, slaves throughout the world.. Where does it begin and where should it end?

Do you think we have a responsibility to protect the citizens of the Earth as the worlds leading superpower? Why/why not?

What do you think are the most important aspects of protecting foreign citizens as a citizen of the most powerful country on Earth?

It's a triple balance.

1) how severely are people being harmed, and what chance is there for a natural resolution.

2) How much does the goings on affect our interest.

3) How expensive in terms of blood and treasure, would it be to resolve the issue.

militarily? not at all, except perhaps to stop massive war crimes against civilians. and even then.......our motives are always deeper than humanitarianism.

I have no problems with special forces sneaking in and taking out a Hussein type dictator. We don't need to be investing full scale boots on the ground invasions all over. I'd want it to be covert and we play ignorant instead of thumping our chests.

As far as hunger, we need to figure out why our own war on poverty has been such a dismal failure before we can "help" others. Individually, you can help quite a lot. Our government? not so much.

I'd like to see the U.S. create a vacuum in international affairs, cut defense spending by 90%, bankrupt the military-industrial complex and invest in infrastructure and education.
IOW, abandon unilateralism and force the Europeans, Russians, Chinese and a multitude of others to feel the pain of your absence while rebuilding your domestic economy. This would force a multilateral approach to world problem solving and prevent economic decline.
It will never happen.

"our own thing" seems to be coming to America.
The only way to move to America is to get sponsored by an employer or start a business with $250,000 initial outlay that makes at least 6 permanent jobs for Americans.

Its really quite hard to move there tbh.

Its's an addiction now. The U.S. must control to maintain dollar primacy. Sadaam Hussein negotiated a deal with the europeans to sell oil to them for euros. Not a lot of people know that.
Yeah, he sure did try to sell to them in Euros, didn't he?

And now he's dead.
