How much space between plants in DWC system

I see pictures on here where there are 4 or 5 net pots on a normal 14 gal container.

I have just 2 in mine and they plants are growing into each other.

Is it OK to have 4 or 5 plants in one 14 gal container? Won't that effect the growth as the plants get wider and possibly the yield when you flower?

It depends on how your growing. If your doing a lolipop style where you trim the lower branches, you could fit 5 .. if your keeping the lower branches you migh be better off with just 2.. its ok for them to grow together a little..

I'm planning a grow with 16 plants in that space. They will all be small but harvesting an ounce each is very realistic.

hey bro. you plan on growing 16 plants in a 14 gal res? gatta se this.
There's nothing new at all about doing that. Take a look at the rainforest 318, 18 plants and a 17 gal res. And that's been around a long time. It's easy to make a system that can do even better. Look around riu and you will see many pics of more than 16 plants ready for harvest in a 4 sq ft space. Small plants but equally good bud.

I have 3 growing in a 6 place bubbleponics 10gal rez using 4 inch net pots. The tub is in a 3sqft end of my closet. They are groing into eachother but are forming a nice canopy. I feel the space is utilized nicely with these systems.

My space allows me to grow 4 large plants of 4-5 feet, or a table of something-teen plants that may only be 12 inches. I find both attractive. I LIKE big plants, but they are harder and in terms of yield the small plants have won out among every grower I know who has tried both under similar circumstances. I grew 3 plants in an aerogarden and got an ounce each and that's only a one gallon res.

Thanks for all the great responses. Really good info. As I figured it always comes down to "it depends..." . I might try fitting more plants then in my space and grow them smaller. Thanks for all the great feedback.
