4x4 for flowering (on the low side tho), double that for veg

MH/HPS= need 50 watt per sq ft (old tech, less efficient)
CMH= need 35 watt per sq ft
LED= need 30-35 watt per sq ft (only cobs or QB's, rest of LED is shit, chingrish LED need 50+ watts per sq ft)
By need I mean "your best results", will work with less of course.

they'll tell you 4x4...but that outside foot is getting shitty coverage, best results from no more than 3x3 per light
Strips are just as good as boards, they use the same diodes.
