I'm going to be starting my first grow of any kind and have 10 feminized lowryder #2xAK47 and an 8-bulb, 4' T5 Setup (432 Watt, 40,000 lumens)....my question is, should I use all 8 lights from the get-goor should I start with something like 4 lights? Also, should I mix spectrums at the beginning? Any advice for Lowryder or T5 would be greatly appreciated.

well i have no clue about T5 lights but do know they are good to use. i'd say not to mix spectrums yet, but to start off with blue spectrums for vegging.

Hey...I was all ready to order a 4ft 8 bulb T5 setup but changed my mind at the last minute and went HID.

Once in a while I wish that I'd stuck with the T5s - seems easier.

Anyway...my plan was to order the fixture with 8 veg bulbs and purchase 8 flower bulbs as spares (from high tech grow).

I would use the veg bulbs until flowering time...then switch to flower bulbs - maybe leave 1 veg light in for a touch of different spectrum. The spare bulbs are pretty cheap and last a long time.

Just my 2 cents. Goodluck

During the seedling stage (first 3 weeks) each plant requires a maximum of 375 lumens each. So 10 X 375 = 3750 lumens total. about 50 watts of CFL (6400K) is enough till then.
Then when they start flowering you want up to a max of 10,000 lumens per plant. i.e 2 X 400W HPS would do it nicely.

i wouldnt mix spectrum either....cus during veg...red color temp spectrum doesnt help u much...u may as well use the sockets ud have those in for blue spectrum bulbs....like the people above me said....just stick to blue spectrum bulbs(5500k-6500k) for veg and then for flowering use 2700k bulbs. gl man keep us upd8 put some pics of so we can see how it goes
