how much to water?

hey guys this is my 1st time outside and was just curious im using 5 gal smart pots inside i would water around twice a week when there bigger and healthy outside is it gonna be the same unless its ungodly hot and no rain? or will i be needing to water more cause outside it dries up faster?

I have mine growing outdoors in the swamps in pots, Most of them are 20 gallon pots, but some are in 5 gallon pots, I havent had to water since April because of all the generous amounts of rain. But i have made a few water runs just because i love spending time with my girls, I noticed that 1 gallon of water in a 5 gallon pot is almost to much, i have to spend sometime nursing her to drink it all down and poking holes in the soil with sticks to get it down. Some days have been over 90' and the soil still stays moist for at least 3-4 days.
