my plants are doing pretty good. my question is about how much water they should get per watering?
They are in 3 gal pots and are a little over 4 weeks old.
I have read that you should water when the soil is dry 1 to 2 in deep. That is everyday. Am I not giving them enough in fear of over watering?

you haven't said how much you are actually giving them, or how big they are, or if you have had any other problems. What's your medium? ask yourself the relative questions that the answers to them will bring you the answer to your problem>

I water anywhere from every 2-4 days, and yes like you said t.he top of the soil should be dry. And the rest of the soil should be almost there, building strong roots that are fighting for water. Im not sure what size my pot is i would say 1-3 gallons and I add just a little over a quart every time I water. I also spray my leaves every now and then, not very often though.

Sorry about the left out info.

They are between 10 and 14 in.
Unfortunately they are in MG potting soil:cry:. That I mixed with perlite.
They are getting probably not enough water. I'm not exactly sure how much.

You were right about the answer coming to me. They probably need more water.

I was hoping for maybe something like, for a pot this and a plant this old they should need about ___ of water.

How much do you water use at this piont?:joint::peace:

I'm don't have any nutes yet. Hopefully in the next few days. So I don't want to loose them out the bottom.

I thought they would make it till flower with out needing any but the fan leafes are starting to loose color, and i think it is from a lack of food.bongsmilie

plants will need nutrients in about 25-30 days using that soil (I don't like MG). After that they need nutrients, so yeah you should get some. Do you check the ph or ppm of your water?
a quart every 2 days (or until top 1 1/2" is dry), and a quart of vegetative feeding solution followed by an extra cup of clean phed water, until they are about 16-18 inches, and you can flower (5 1/2-6 weeks, "mature", preflowering) and then I iether transplant them into larger plants or flower them out slightly increasing the amount of water I give them.... thats the gist.... depending on the overall situation of your grow, there could be other things going on....

if you don't check the ph, or its a little off, use about 1.5 times the amount of water.

It always helps to talk (or type in this situation). This is my first grow and I don't have many people to talk to about this. I have flower nutes but not veg. Tomorrow is my only day off so i was planing on getting them then. Things are still coming together I was going to get ph tester at next opportunity.

ppm of water?
I know what ppm means but what are you checking for? I know my water needs improvement. I live in a city, I'm using tap water that has been in a bucket for at least 24 hours. Any suggestions on a cheap way to get good water in a city?

All comments greatly appreciated!!bongsmilie

25 cents a gallon.... isn't it?..... salt and nutrient build up is what your checking for (in the water). letting it sit will help get rid of excess chlorine etc. is there a residue left over in your container?

Haven't found any, it gets refilled about every three days now (2-1/2 gals). I have more than I was ready for as far as plants go.
Any chance you could comment on my other post?
