How much water?

I keep watching YouTube videos of watering cannabis and nobody explains exactly how much water the size of the pot actually needs. Can somebody help me for example if I have a 4 inch pot with a little baby clown in it. How much water do I put into that pot? What's the exact measurement of water? What's the actual formula? I am a new Grower and I had over-watering issues where the soil would stay wet for one week straight and The Roots would get messed up. So I'm going to try it again with brand new clones but I don't want the same thing to happen. I just want some clear advice on how to water. They didn't have good drainage. But even if they did have good drainage exactly how much water should I give them? Is there a rule of thumb when it comes to figuring out the exact amount of water

About 20% of the pot size is a good place to start. You may need more or less depending on how much water your medium can hold.

there is no formula i know of . i just put about 25 % perlite fine . and the rest soil dirt . and ill shoot a 3 or 5 gallon pot a half gallon of water . if your stressed then put 50/50 perlite to soil then you cant over water it will drain the extra water right out .

temps, humidity, mass of medium used, plant metabolism, photosynthesis ect all factor in how much water is used, so really, no rule of thumb exist. With young sprouts, you don't need to water till run-off. As long as they aren't staying wet for too long.

No specific formula but you can start with a rule of thumb of .3gal of water for every gallon of medium in soil/pro-mix, e.g. a 3gal pot = .9 gallon, 5gal pot = 1.5gal.
