How Much?

Ok.. so im a total newbie to all of this but i catch on to most things quick and absorb info like a sponge. Ive read up on pretty much everything and feel im up to speed. The only thing i lack is experience.

Im on my first grow, and its a soil grow. Im not looking to stay with growing in soil because i believe hydroponics is the way to go and plan on setting up a DWC.

So heres my question if i were to set up a 4 plant DWC using a rubbermaid type container, what quantity of nutrients should I plan on investing in for one full grow? Would a two part system (veg & bloom) using quarts be enough or do i need to purchase the gallons? Or should i go with a three part system that includes micro?

Also if anyone has any suggestions on nutes that are lower in price range yet still produce well it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time haha.:leaf:

a cheap way to go could be to use the General Hydroponics 3 part system, in quarts.

Should be plenty to get you through at least 2 grows in a 4 plant DWC.

if you really want to stretch your dollar, change your rez every 3 weeks instead of two.

I've grown DWC before, do yourself a favor, and get a rubbermaid container that will hold at least 2 gallons of water per plant. It wont be as compact, but the PH will remain much more stable, and give you plenty of room for the huge rootmass that 4 plants will create. a spigot on the bottom really helps alot for draining/testing of the water. You can get one for a couple of dollars from one of those places that sells RO water.

One more thing, I use GH nutrients, and I only use them at about two/thirds strength and I get nice results.

Good luck!

Go to ebay and look up the seller Blue Mountain Organics. Research their products and their labels tell you exactly how many gallons each bottle will make.

I am using Advanced Nutrients Monkey Juice and I am into my 2nd grow with it. I'm sure there is enough for at least 1 more grow.

Good call on the spigot idea ill definately incorporate that. Also does it matter how many air stones i have? Does more equal better? I have so many of them laying around that it would be sweet if more of them made the system produce more.

As mrguyy wonders, as do I, why the water level is important considering they'll be spending the rest of their lives in water?!?!

Thank you.

Ok so ive decided to go with an 18 gallon sterilite box i had laying around. (its pink lol) I am curious as to what size net pots i should use.. i was thinking 4 inches. Does the size of the net pot even really matter considering the bulk of the root mass will be below the actual pot and in the resevoir.

O ya and a response to the water level question would be awesome thanks again.
