How often to treat with Epsom?

My two questions:

1. How much Epsom Salt do I add to a ten gallon tank?

2. How often do I add Epsom? each time I add another gallon of water? or just when I do a water change?

Here's my info:

In trying to diagnose my plants I came to the conclusion that it was Mag def. Yet i was worried about over-doing it and getting the Cal lock out. I read about even more symptoms, mine fit for every stage. So I added one table spoon Epsom salt to ten gallons of water. Over the next week my plants responded and I could even see yellow leaves, that i thought were just dead, start to turn green. Awesome! However I believe I was much too cautious with how much I used because they have not recovered fully AND the younger flowering plants seem to be going back to yellow. My water out of the tap is just 22 PPM. I use Botonicare organic pro stuff:

11mL/gal Cal/Mag
30mL/gal Flower/Veg Growth
10mL/gal Liquid Karma
3mL/gal H2O2 every 4 day

Flower PPM between 1600-1800
pH 5.8
1000 watt HPS

Do not have a pic, but not needed in this case. I know its Mag Def because the day after I placed the epsom salt in the plant got much greener and over the next week.

2) Growing indoor or outdoors
Indoor using StinkBuddies Rubbermaid RoughNeck set up.

3) Watering schedule
10pm and 9am daily - water level is replenished, PPM adjusted, and lastly pH balanced.

4) Growing Medium
Hanging roots from netpots.

5) What stage of growth
Flower.

I do it by weight. To punch ten gallons up by 50 ppm Mg, that takes nineteen grams. That's probably more than one tablespoon. cn

I use the whole line of Botanicare and love it. Some of my strains need a bump-up of the cal/mag as they show a low level Mg deficiency when others don't. With your low ppm in your water, I (and u should too) be adding at least 10 ml which apparently you are. I'd consider bumping up to 15 ml for a bit and see if that helps the situation. Adding "Sweet" in flowering will also add a boost to Mg, as will a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses. In flowering, I would definitely be using these 2 items with every watering. By adding Epsom Salts, these could be playing with your pH as these salts tend to build up more rapidly in the medium, rather than taking a more balanced application like cal/mag........ but to answer your question specifically, I believe the ratio is more like 2-3 tablespoons per gallon to help enough.

if youre using h2o2 dont use sweet or molasses! those are to feed microbes, h2o2 is to kill microbes. if you use em both youll be making a home for critters that are tougher against the hydrogen peroxide, and youll get slime, bacterial growth or other such nastiness.

if youre using drugstore epsom salts, draw your water and slowly add epsom salts too it, while tasting the solution (rinse well between tastes, and try to avoid swallowing it unless you really wanna take a shit...) when you can just barely taste the stuff, you should be ready to put your fertilizers in. like 5-8 ml / liter is all it takes. you dont wanna make a pickling solution. crunched up eggshells in the bottom of your reservoir will also slowly add calcium and prevent acid buildup. just make suree the shells are cleaned and dried. i rinse mine before putting them out in the sun to dry. half a teacup of loosely crunched eggshells in the bottom of your DWC is good medicine for your plants, and a small strip of copper wire or a pair of real copper pennies (not the zinc plated ones!) in the bottom also helps reduce funk growth.
