Ron Paul has publicly declared that he would, as President, end the "State of Emergency" (just a step below Martial Law) that has been in effect since Dec 7th 1941, which is the cornerstone of most expansions of govt power over the last 70 years. He says he would also rescind most of the executive orders issued in the last century, decapitate the useless war on drugs, war on poverty, war on terror, war on illiteracy, war on hunger, war on aids, etc.. etc.. etc... Declaring war on an idea, a disease, or an ephemeral concept is fucking retarded. As Cheif Executive, the President has many powers to destroy govt interventionism, such as, NOT appointing a head of the DEA BATF FBI NEA HUD IRS CIA NSA EPA Homeland Security (moar like Fatherland Securty AMIRITE?!) and all the other unconstitutional organizations, as well as the million and 5 "working groups" of poindexters diligently striving to turn the US into Metropolis (the 1937 film, not Superman's city).
Another fine move from a Paul administration, actually auditing the federal reserve bank, and the pentagon. if these two organizations ever had to really open their books to the people, there would be mass outrage. Further, extracting us from the UN, Nafta Gatt, the G10, WTO, and all the other boondoggles that the "Free Traders" have bamboozled us into over the last 50 years might actually let the US participate in real Free Trade instead of the Expensive Trade we currently get ass raped with. The current "Free Trade" bullshit so beloved by Wall Street, K Street and Sesame Street is nothing but the shifting of production from the local, state and US economy to anyplace on earth this pair of tube socks can be made 1/10,000th of a cent cheaper. All the Ding Dongs chattering about those evil corporations, in their corporation buildings being all corporationey forget that the biggest corporate bailouts in history occured under Obama, and the Idiots kvetching about war profiteers seem to be forgetting that the biggest wars in world history started under leftist and progressive leadership on all sides. (Hitler FDR Stalin Mussolini Hirohito and Chamberlain all wanted some hope and change, and all were socialists to varying degrees, socialism being the defining economic theory of the Left)
