All right so I already know that being an indoor grower i can chose how tall I want them and change over. What I want to know is what is the best height to switch? This is my first indoor grow I have a 78in*78in*78in grow tent, with a 1000w mh/hps light. I have 20 in there now but once i switch over ill still have to weed out the males. Its pretty packed in there now but I want them to get big enough to get some good buds. They are about 4 1/2 weeks old from seed. They are about anywhere from 15in to 24in (for some reason they stayed shorter then I thought and bushed out). I also heard they once you change them over they will get like twice as big is that true? Can anyone help me out?

some strains will get 3x as large in flower.
Somethings can be done to reduce stretch such as PGR products, supercropping and topping along with LST

@15 inches it would be 45 inches if it doubles and 60 inches if it triples.
@24 inches it would be 48 inches if it doubles and 75 inches if it triples
Plus 10-12 inches for your light. I would probaly switch it now.

What size pots are they in?????
On my last grow, my 3-gallon potted plants didn't get as tall as my 5-gallon potted plants.. they were all the same age from seed, and similar in height before the 12/12 switch.

I usually switch mine from veg to 12/12 when they're between 15-18". They end up getting around 5 feet tall or so. Sometimes taller. I grow predominantly in 5 gallon buckets and 9 gallon tubs. When in the tub i usually have 2 going in one tub. But this all depends on strain.

Best time to switch to 12/12 depends on a whole slew of things.Sometimes they get 3times as big.Lots of Riu'ers can help you out.

You're not sure how many after taking out males. Here's what I do:- one light 600w 20-25 plants in 5-6 L containers. flip at 20 CM. less 9-16, then veg to 30 cm but prune lower branches as these will grow taller and the light will not reach.
