How the f@#$ do I keep my cuts green and healthy?

I have been using an ez cloner for roughly a year now. I tend to take a small amount of cuts at a time. I have always had the same issues. I take the cut, roughly 5-7 days in the foliage starts to yellow, 7-15 days in the foliage is a cluster fuck of yellow, brown, and green. I am constantly removing the dead and dying leafs. By the time I get 2-4" roots, typically 14-21 days, the plants appear to be very stressed. I have been thinking this may be slowing down the plants taking to the transplant and early veg growth. The roots tend to be very white and healthy as can be. I'm just looking for a way to keep the top half of my plants more healthy through the stressful time of being a young clone. Oh yea, figured I'd throw out that I don't use any ferts in my ez cloner because I hear they retard root growth. From what I hear, the plant realizes its in a dire situation to stay alive so it forces itself to grow roots in order to pick up some nutrients and supplementing the environment with nutes, either via foliar spray or ez cloner solution, results in a lessened demand for the plant to force root growth quite as fast.

Clones turn yellow.. it means they re using the leaf nutrients up while they try and get their shit together and develop some roots.

Don't pick off the yellow.. don't screw with them.. they are not a house plant.. while it 'can be' a lovely plant.. it's a crop.. 'leave it alone' is the best advice I ever got.

I just snip and stick them in water.. 7 days later they start to yellow, I stick them in dirt. 7 days later they are almost completely in shock and look like they may not make it. By the next week stand back, they are jack and the bean stock.

I don't know what you use for light, but I prefer a single 6500k cfl (at at least a 8 inch distance for the first week) and ambient room light 24/7.

I've done this all my life and success is almost 100 percent.. I can't remember the last time I lost one. I just don't think about it and I don't fool with it other than changing water daily.

Not sure if you're complimenting me on my c02 source or knocking it?

I figured this was something that more people encountered and have overcome. Before I had the capability of producing my own clones I had to get them from dispensaries generally, not always, those clones weren't in as rough of shape as mine. For the most part they were very green. I have read countless threads where people say that its the normal for the plant to stress, look like its going to die, then BANG make a comeback. I'm quite confident there are techniques to avoid that hole near death part of the process. Anybody else care to share their experience?

Get rid of that ez cloner and get some jiffy tomato starter pucks.. They friggin love em..
Just cut a bunch to see which worked best, rockwool, bubble, or tomato starters.. Tomato starters won hands down.

Yeah, keep your humidity above 80% and your temps a little under 80F and you will see they stay greener. They also root faster. With a cloning machine I'm not sure what you would use, I just use a dome and tray and refresh the CO2 every now and then as well as adding a bit of water via misting.

Mine did this when I was using plain ph'd water so I mixed some nutrients up just as I would for a freshly rooted cutting and soaked my rock wool in this until it was hydrated 10 days later have rooted cuttings and they look great think 5 out of the tray didn't look good so try this and maybe it will help .

Yellowing is a sign that they are putting down roots. Its very normal. Plucking the leaves because they dnt look like you think they should is why they go dormant. You are shocking them again right after a major shock. Plucking what is probably 1/3rd of the cuttings leaves is a major shock. I have had cuttings that stayed green and many that didnt...they all grew just fine.

Point is it doesn't matter what those leaves of a clone look like.. once the clone takes off those leaves are history anyway.. Don't compete with the cover of High Times, that's just an illusion.

Different strains react differently. I have found full out Sativa's rarely yellow at all.. not even a tiny bit, while many indicas just want to turn yellow.. they are using those nutrients.. it is a good thing.. they are going to shed and outgrow those silly leaves soon.. don't pay any energy trying to keep them if you are already successful anyway.. green is pretty, but it's a state of mind a lot of time..

if it is working and not broken, don't try to fix it.

For instance I will never use a humidity dome (certainly not after the first few days) .. way more trouble than they are worth (for me) and the clone needs to be trying to suck water from it's stem and not leaves .. humidy can be counter productive to root growth.. or so I heard.. like me, everyone has a story..

but if you are already successful in cloning, then you are successful.. a few yellowing leaves wont change a thing.

I don't understand why there are so many comments like this throughout this forum. I supplied information to help more accurately diagnose the problem I am having. I'll remind you this thread is for users looking for help in diagnosing and solving problems and for users who are interested in helping others based on their experience. Some guy has to come in and tell me how bleak my future is. Then a previously, potential helpful user comes in and LOLs, telling him to take it easy on me. Those comments are dismissive of my issues and abilities and of no help to my situation. If that's what makes you feel better I guess you may perpetuate that cycle. Aaaaaand here I am playing my role as the self defensive user. Blah. Thanks to all that genuinely shared their thoughts. Next run I will leave all of the leafs on and see how they do.
