Harvest pollen in a separate area. Make sure the humidity is very low. %35 is ok,lower is better. I cut all the fan leaves off when he is getting close to blasting that pistil powder, then I lean the plants over a mirror for a few days. I gently tap the branches, then scrape the pollen up after 24hrs when its had time to dry.
Then store it in small individual bags with a few grains of rice in with the pollen to wick any residual moisture. Put the packets in a mason jar with more rice in it in the freezer.
When its time to dust your buds outside, take out your jar and crack it while still in the freezer. Take out a baggie or two, then quickly reseal and put it back into the freezer.
Very important!
Let the baggie come up to room temp before you work with it. Opening it straight out if the freezer will cause condensation and ruin your pollen.
You can skip the freezer if the females are ready for pollination. Pollen will keep in the freezer for years.
When it's time to dust the lady puffs, wait for a calm clear day. No wind, low humidity.
When I dust my indoor, I put a bag over the branches I don't want pollinated. You can do the same outdoor, you just might need a bigger bag.
Dust your desired buds in the evening around week 3-4 of flower when they look like little puff balls. Let the pollen sit for 1/2 hour to an hour, then lightly hose them off with water.
Doing this in the evening will help you to not cook your plants while they are in bags, also to not burn your plants when you spray them off with the hose.
Happy chucking!!!
