How to pollinate just one stem

so i have looked everywhere, and all i can find is how to pollinate the whole plant,

So i dont want to pollinate the whole plant, but i want to pollinate just one lower stem or maybe 2,

Is that possible? If so whats the best way to do it?

Has anyone tried it? If so how was the results? Did it polinate other plants? Or how did it go?

At what week should the plant be pollinated?

I have 4 males and i wake to take one female plant, and polinate sections of her by different males,

Here are my 4 males i took them out of my flower room as i started seen balls,

Turn off all the fans, use a small paintbrush like for model cars apply the pollen directly where you want it.

I usually put a paper bag over the branch to keep the pollen from flying off for a bit.

Mist the rest of the plant with water
To deactivate any pollen that got away from you.

Works great.

I imagine a qtip would work.

For that matter you could put the pollen in a bag then put the bag on the branch n give it a little shake.
Be very gentle

I just use a very fine paintbrush

^^^^^ what he said. For outdoor plants I use a bread bag, and wet the plant down good while the bag is still on the limb.

Put a garbage bag over the whole plant and just have the branch you want to pollinate sticking out a slit in the bag that you seal with a twist tie around the base of that one branch. I use a Q-Tip to dust pollen all over the buds by tapping it above the buds. Do this in a room other than the flowering room, leave it sit overnight then mist the whole bag to deactivate any stray pollen and the branch sticking out then take the bag off and put her back in the flower room.

I've done four different pollens on one plant like that to get 4 crosses in one. Works great and the rest of the bud on the plant grows normal and seed free.

I wait a week between each pollination when doing multiples on one plant. Gives the pollen time to take before having to wet it for the next go round. Even with these precautions, I always find a couple of "Who's your Daddy?" seeds on the seedless parts of the plant.

I did one a day and found no seeds in any of the unpollinated buds but sometimes just shut down my fan and dust some buds in the open with no bag knowing there will be some stray seeds. With just the one pollen used those seeds are good to add to the pile as you know who their daddy is unlike myself.

I grow in the bush, so my controls are more limited. Unless I have very few good females to choose from, I would rather use just one kind of pollen on a plant.

The wife and I recently did one of the 23 and Me test kits. I always had some doubts because I look and act just like a 2nd cousin of mine. {the list of traits we share is long and varied} But his son and I are 3rd cousins not half brothers, so Daddy is really my daddy.

I was adopted and never did search for my birth family until about 3 years ago to find out my birth mother died about 6 months prior after a 10 year battle with dementia taking the name of my birth father to her grave as my 5 half-siblings had no idea I existed until the registry contacted my eldest bro. Do you battle dementia or just surrender to it I wonder.

Anyway I had some email contact with one of my sisters but it petered out and have had no contact for a couple of years. No great loss to me if they don't want contact. I have enough loving members of my adopted family to fill that void and no real desire to pursue it further. I did get a picture of my b-mom at age 75 just before she died and she looks just like my dad's old Scottish mom blue hair and all.

My mom's side were immigrants from Switzerland while dad's were immigrants from Scotland. My b-mom's parents were Scottish immigrants and I know my b-dad was an immigrant from Scotland too and twice my mom's age at 34 when I was born in '54. My b-mom was also treated for syphilis before I was born so I know my cab driving b-dad was likely a kiddie-diddling whore monger so who needs to find that POS.

The first week after we posted our results online, the wife had 3 cousins contact her who were adopted and were searching for their birth father. The test are getting so common, with one man, it was easy to narrow it down to two brothers, just from comparing their DNA. He contacted the brother that is still alive, {and who lived in the town he was born in at that time}, but the man said he didn't know what he was talking about. The other two kind of know who their fathers are, but there isn't any of that line in the data base to be sure.

A funny story about the DNA testing. My buddy who does the cleaning and maintenance here got his tested, as did his sister, some cousins and all his living aunts. It turned out his granny had kids by at least three different men, all the while married to their grandfather. He came back from a week with his family. He said, "well, we found out granny was a floozy."

Some data bases won't release the names of living folks unless they sign off on it, just for this reason.

If I ever come indoors, I'll do it like that. I just cut the shoots off into a paper bag. After a few days of drying, I will dust a limb or two by sticking them in the bag and shaking it around. A couple of limbs will give you lots of seeds.

I forgot to add that. Make sure the pods are really dry especially if freezing for later use.

I don't do a lot of long term storage, but when I do, adding rice to the pollen will help keep it dry in the freezer.

I put flower in my pollen before distribution. It made the tiny pile visible and I'm sure absorbed moisture.
Someone recommended it and it worked well enough.

I lay a sheet of tinfoil in the bottom of a box and hang a light over a branch from a male that just sits in a glass of water with a little aspirin in it. Then when I got lots of pollen I pour it thru my 180 micron keif screen onto another piece of tinfoil that I crease a bit so I can pour that into a vial. The vial then goes open into a larger jar containing colour changing desiccant for a week then it gets topped for later use.

Another trick I've used to get pollen off a male that don't have room to set up in a box somewhere is to cut off all but one branch then all the flowers on that branch except for what will fit into a paper bag that I've Scotch Taped a plastic window into. The window lets light in and the paper lets moisture escape. Then just keep it twice as far away from the light or more on the outskirts of the grow and let the flowers mature and drop pollen in the bag. Once there's enough just chop that last branch off and take it away to collect your pollen.

I grow in the bush. Often pollen collection is easy and uneventful. But not always. In '16 I cut the shoots of pollen sacks off a CPDA {chicken pen, deer ate} male 3 times. I used some the pollen on lower limbs of two CPDA females in the same patch, then hiked out with the fresh pollen in my pack. Three times I got caught in a thunderstorm just minutes later. I had a female BP {Berry Patch}, a sister strain to CPDA, I was trying to cross. I tried the pollen all three times, but only got one seed off the plant. And I don't trust myself to remember to always wash my hands, so I don't trust it to be CPDA X BP. Not only that, but the rain so soon after I had dusted the plants in the bush washed most of the pollen off. I did make 25-50 seeds between the two plants, but it should have been 200-300 on each plant for the amount of pollen I put on them.
