how to tell if you are taking clones from a female plant?

i have never taken clones before just seeds and i was wondering how can you tell if your taking clones from a mom plant? do you let the mom start flowering then cut it to make sure it is a female plant? and once you do that do you just put more bloom nutrients into it or do you put grow nutrients in it to make it grow bigger before flowering? help please

first you have to ensure that its a female plant, it would be best if you can post some pics of your plant, that way we will be able to help you determine if tis female or male, make sure you get a good camera, cause you have to get up close to the plant, take a few pics so you will have something to show.
