A lot of grower use air-cooled hoods and lights----I found a simple way to maximize the cooling of my system-----I purchased a digital infrared remote thermometer from wal-mart-there is a couple of units out there for under 20 dollars and after you maximize your system you can use the units for other areas of your grow. The units come with an indoor dig thermometer and a small dig thermometer IR---I take the small outdoor unit and use good Velcro to secure it in my exhaust duct just as the air leaves the last light--I then seal the duct back up and turn both units on---you now have a live real-time display of what your duct temp is at. You can now move and adjust the placement of ducting/fans/ and system until you reach the lowest temp. Then I just take the unit out of the duct and use it for other things---I was able to drop my temp by 14 deg from the original setup I thought would be working the best.
