Regarding how much to use, typically you cut your base nutrients in half and add 1/4tsp (1.25g) of a booster. But, you can eliminate the guesswork by using
this spreadsheet. Just enter what you currently feed to see the NPK ratio and PPM strength you're using now. Then play with reducing the base while increasing the Hawaiian B&B to get a similar PPM strength, but an NPK ratio around 1-3-2.
If you are aware of the details like this, you can play with 1-4-3, etc.
I don't know if PK boosting helps. But, the major risk is not knowing how it affects your strength and NPK ratio. When people just add it, they sometimes end up burning their plants or going too high with PK.
