hps and seeds!

can anyone give me some advice about using my hps 400w lights above seeds which have germinated!Can i use this type of light to grow my seeds from scratch or must i use metal halide bulbs! any help would be appriciated cheers...!

yes it is absolutely fine, if not totally ideal, just make sure you have the light at least 2 feet above them. If they stretch lower the light immediately until you find they grow bushy rather than leggy.

I'd use CFL's till the nodes start to show... thats me though..

ok the seeds have been germinating in darkness for 3 days now i notice shoots coming out. How much light do they get now? Do you go straight on to 12 and 12?

i would put them under 24hr or 18/6 light for atleast 3 weeks min.
