Hps ballast question

I'm thinking about buying a used hps grow light kit and the guy who is selling it says it can run 1000/600/400 watt bulbs, but from what I read if the ballast is 1000 watts its only able to run 1000 watt bulbs, do they have ballast that can run different wattage bulbs?

I would never buy a used light system. Dangerous and probably a waste of money.

Supposedly it has only been used for 5 hours, I don't really believe that but in the picture everything looks new.

if it is a 1000 watt ballast you can use anything under a 1000 watts you will probably need a new bulb for it

I would not buy a used system either. Check out htgsupply.com....they have great prices on their digital ballasts and regular....

1000w ballast runs 1000w HPS, 600 - 600, etc.

Thats what I thought thanks, I guess I will just buy one new, it was a really good deal though 175 for a 1000watt hps ballast with light and reflector and a 400 watt mh ballast with light and reflector.
