HPS light dispersal

I'm in my first grow with hps lighting and at 24 days into flowering. I have 10 plants under a 400w hps. The grow area is 3 ft by less than 3 ft. The light seems to cover it well, and I am keeping as close as temps on top will bear.

The question is this - the plants right down the spine of the light are significantly taller than those on either side by about 8 inches. So it is the tall ones that the light has to be sufficiently above, meaning it is further from those on the sides. I assume they grew this way "because" of the additional light in the center. Is there anything I can do besides have 4 good plants and 6 somewhat stunted ones? I can't add another light because of heat.

Thanks for any thoughts!

you got something to bounce the light off the walls I hope? It's hard to keep an even canopy sometimes...if you have all your plants in individual pots you can move them around a bit...you can also tie branches down to keep an even canopy, weave them around, etc.

re-arrange them in a stadium type setup with tallest plants on the perimeter, shortest in the center.

Its because the footlight print isn't even, cheap bulb maybe? Like they said, rotate em, if there all in the same system, tie em down
