Your research is well-founded... I run three 250W HPS and one 400W MH during flowering, and two 250W HPS and a 400W MH and a 250W MH during veg. I used to do it the cut and dry "MH for veg and HPS for flower"-way, but not only have my yields significantly increased with using both types, but I also seem to get more females from regular seed, and have tighter internodal spacing, resulting in bushier, more hearty plants. I recommend this over the dual-arc type lamps, because with those, u r only getting partial benefits of each spectrum, instead of full-blown lumens and spectrums from both types together... Plants DO seem to really thrive under this type of lighting, and with added CO2, and awesome all-natural, organic soil mixes, you will grow some of the sweetest, dankest nugs you've ever had the pleasure of smoking... U can see my lil setup if u go to my current album on my profile and see how Im flowering my babies, right now... I'd say go for it, full steam ahead! As long as your temps and hum is in check, the more lumens and wider the spectrum, the better... I even have mine timed to where each "morning", the HPS's come on for the first three hours, mimicing sunrise, and then three hours in, the MH's come on with the HPS's still burning, mimicing mid-late day, and then six hours later, the MH's shut off, mimicing sunset, with only the HPS's until "night", again... But, the last two weeks, I let em all go the full 12 hour on period... So, it's up to you... But anything this well-thought out, and in my case, tested over and over again, is definately worth trying... Call it reinventing the wheel if u want, but using MH during flowering increases trichome production because of the UV radiation they emit, which triggers the plant's natural "defense" mechanism, producing more resin, to better coat and protect the leaves and flowers... It's science, not a just a good idea...
