HPS question

i have purchused a 400w hps ballast and bulb with reflector for 150$, i have a 100W bulb as well and i was wondering if i could you the 100W blub in the 400W ballast , and if yes, will there be a signifigance difference in the temps (100W heat compared to the 400W )

you can but, it is not recommended. you will shorten the bulbs life substantially and it can be a fire risk.
