Hey guys recently i've posted here on rollitup about an issue that i'm having on my grow ... My plants doesn't smell, people tried to figure it out what it could be and none of us had a concrete answer to the problem but i didn't had a hygrometer to know the RH.

People thought it could be extremely low RH causing my buds to evaporate the terps, so i've went asap to a grow shop to buy a hygrometer and for my surprise (even doe i live in a dry city) my RH at night are 70% and 68F and during lights on RH around 95% and 72-75F...

So do you guys think that super high humidity could be the cause of this problem (plants with no smell) ?

BTW: I'm getting a dehumidifier even doe it costs around 600 U$$ in my country =/

Do you live in a super humid area? If you are venting your tent properly, the RH shouldn't be nearly that high.

Don't know if it could have any effect o the smell but i do know that a humidity that hgh isn't good.
Do you use a carbon filter? If so make sure it still works because usually above 70%-75% the carbon inside stops working and won't filter the smell.
Besides that you're bound to get bud rot during flowering as well.

For now what you're able to do is put a lot of cups with rice inside you're room. They will at least take some of the humidity away. The more the better of course.

He already mentioned he lives in a super dry area so that can't be it.

You have any pictures of you're setup?
Where do you have your in and outlet and are you using a fan inside the room as well in order to circulate the air properly?

@Tracker Hey man actually i live in a dry place don't know how the RH in my room gets so high...

@GrowingAbroad I'm getting the dehumidifier this week already can't risk losing a harvest to mold even a odorless one hahaha

@GrowingAbroad i'll take pictures tomorrow, it's pretty simple it's a big room with 2 tents one 4x8 and one 3x3 with AC 12.000 BTU

Well there's your humidity problem.
Using an AC usually always makes the humidity go up.

Causes Of High Humidity With Air Conditioning Units

That's because the powerful compressor turns on and off too frequently, so the system never runs long enough to remove moisture from the air.

I this what happens with you're ac?

Maybe try venting before dropping the cash on a dehu. And 600 seems steep, how big is your space?? But if your dry climate just move some fresh air into your grow. You can even set a fan to a controller to turn on and off when disused levels are achieved. 6 inch in-line fan and controller won’t cost ya more than 200$ I’d guess

@GrowingAbroad Hey man my AC is a split inverse technology i don't know if he does that but the humidity is 95% so must be that...

@green_machine_two9er Man i would love to do that but i can't my grow is hidden style and there's no way to bring air from outside apart from opening the door...

So that's it guys gonna buy the big boy 600 U$$ in the ass (Brazil is fucked up man) but if that gives me top shelf flowers i'll be the happiest man on the world... God knows how much i dream about tastefull flowers

Are you sure the meter is correct? You can definitely feel 95% humidity in an indoor grow room as it's always a bit warm.
I run high humidity but not 95% high. Do you run ventilation? Because if you got no ventilation with a lot of veg mass then the room will hit 95% in no time.

You might have a strain that's not very smelly?

@goofy81 Hey man i think it's correct bought it yesterday from the store, i do have ventilation... I thought it could be the strains but i had at least 4 different genetics and all had the same result
Thought you said no ventilation?

I grow in 10% humidity and high heat indoors. My terpenes do not evaporate and my pot smells just fine. Cannabis terpenes are not water soluble so that's not it.

Mainly it's bad genetics. It's not rapid drying because I dry in 1 day or so and jar. After about a week of burping my plants are usually smelly and deliciously smokable.

You still need to reduce that humidity.

Welcome to RIU, prazer em conhecer você

@green_machine_two9er Hey man i do have ventilation inside the grow room but i don't have a way to bring air from outside to inside, i can just open the door few times a day to bring new air...

@curious2garden Yeah man i've been reading a lot these past few days, from the info i gathered the best cannabis is grown in dry conditions and cool temperatures specially if we're talking about indicas... Vc também é BR ?

@LifeOnMars I'm getting the dehumidifier this week

I run high heat with low humidity and my pot is good. I lose a little (surprisingly not much) during the high heat but not too terrible

Open the door a few times a day, are you kidding?
You need to go back to the drawing board mate, 2 minutes is a long time not to have a fan coming on, in my tent with a full canopy the RH will climb 4/5% in a couple of minutes, ventilation is absolutely essential.

I'm living in 80/90% and I manage to maintain an acceptable range, you need to get air into and out of the room/tent.

@curious2garden Hey man i'm planning to run low humidity ~ 40% and temps around 72F that will give me a 1.3 kpa i think thing will be good... Glad to hear your daughter is BR

@Star Dog Hey man i'm growing in a 4x8 tent i don't close the doors of the tent and have 2 ventilators to keep the air moving what i meant is i grow in a room that doesn't have windows or any holes so the only way to bring new air is open the door a few times a day

She's my daughter in law but I love her like a daughter. They want to go visit her mother but it's just so bad in Brazil right now they don't dare take the baby there. My son is fluent in Portuguese and I have a small smattering. My grand daughter babbles in a mix that no one understands LOL

When this mess is over I hope to get to Brazil to meet the extended family who gifted our family such a wonderful daughter :)

PS she loves my weed ;D

@curious2garden Hey man things are going really bad in Brazil, i'm doing gastronomy at university and i plan to move to Uruguay better politics towards the herb and a better social management, Brazil is a great country, beautifull beaches, forests, people are well humored, the country have lots of potential but we are in a downhill in almost every area, the way we handled the pandemic was a joke we had the chance to buy vaccines and our president denied =/

Americans know how to grow great herb, i got herb from street and it was dope that was in Vegas, the only time i smoked herb that was American standart was back in 2015 when i had a grow in another place and two clones from a really connected guy, it was good times but i'm sure that i'm on the right way my next grow will be Gelly Biscuit a cross of Biscotti and later i'll do Orange Cannoli cross of Tropicanna Cookies...

Sorry dude I misinterpreted that.
I'll wait to see a photo before thinking about it, I'd be surprised if someone doesn't think of something, underground growers are quite an ingenious crowd lol.

Edit... Fwiw I've grown in less than ideal humidity but I can't recall it affecting the flavour, what I have found is there's lots of crap available now that has very little flavour through genetics, do you know the plant to be good genetics or is it seed your using?
