This sucks not to sure what to do i just came back from dinner and checked the temp and the humidity.... lights are off right now untell 4 in the morning.......................the temp was 67 so that should be alright but the humidity was 80% hmmm dont think that is to good for them but im new to this so im not sure i have been trying to find threads and info but no luck so im posting this thread and going back to the search i have noticed at night or in the dark time no lights the temp and humidity change from day to day...................was wondering if 80 is alright for just dark time or should i bring it down to 55% and if so how would i do this what lowers humidity ???? i have two humidifiers but hahaha i think that will only help if theres no humidity right ????

The humidity level can be good at 80% depending on room conditions & what state of growth the plants are in,for instance if they are still in veg than as long as the high humidity isnt creating issues like powdery mold on the leaves then its ok,plants love high humiditry in veg.

Now for the bad news,if the plants are in bud it can be very bad news,an 80% humidity level when plants are in heavy bud will in allmost all cases attract mold (bud rott) that is hard as hell to stop.

A well thought out grow room should allways be able to control the humidity levels as well as temps, you can do this several ways, the cheapest is to bring in low humidity air from another area like a beddroom or living area if the grow is in a home, then vent moist air out of the grow op,this can be done using duct work & inline duct fans from home depot.

Another way is to use a dehumidifier,if the grow is in a cold area like a basement most dehumidifiers wont work worth a shit once temps go below 75 degrees, whats needed is a basement dehumidifier, they are designed to operate below 70 degrees,a standard dehumidifier will not collect enough moisture to make a dent in the grow op,they are rated at 80 degrees or higher,a basement dehumidifiers work much better because of its design.

The best thing you can do until you get the humidity under control is to increase air circulation as much as possible,if the plants are in heavy bud get extra fans blowing directly on the buds, mold has a very hard time surviving within fresh moving air, just having excellent air circulation around the entire bud surface will increase the amount of humidity the bud can take before mold sets in.

A level of 80% must be corrected if at all possible, the increased air flow is just a stop gap until you correct the problem.

right on pan head thanks for the info.........i was reading and didnt find exactly what i was looking for but i read somthing about humidity is moister in the air so when more heat is applied in the area the humidity will go down hahaha yes i win wooo hooo ............ i am also going to look into a humidistat i think its called, its like a air conditioner controll you set your temp and humidity and some how connect im guessing a heater and your fans or maybe just one and a humidifier and then it keeps your temp and humidity perfect.....like i said im looking into it i might not have all the facts striaght but sounds like just what a good room would need. well thanks to all the peps that helped....check out my grow on the link below .........keep growing .............and MERRY CHRISTMAS :weed:

I run a dehumidifier in my room. It pulls 80 pints of water in 24hrs! I just dump it back into my res. It keeps my level at 55%.

Stupid thing is only a 40 pint model, so I had to empty it every morning when I got up, than at 8 when the lights come on. I finally got around to putting it up on a rubbermaid bin, cut a hole in the top, and let it drain into that.
