Hybrid LED + HPS Scrog Hydroponics grow.

Hello, I am attempting a hybrid type grow. I will be doing my best to keep a log. I tried to search for others like my set up but didn't have much luck. So hope this can be useful to any one else who is interested in trying it.



Lights: 600 Watt HPS

2x California Light Works LED 440W LED

Grow Medium: Clay Pebbles.

Grow Method: Hydroponics, Ebb and Flow.

Nutes: General Hydroponics

Calmag

Armor SI

Rapid Root

Trio

White Shark


PH: 5.6

PPM:1820

Temp: 65-70 (No chiller)

Portable AC Unit. (In front of Res tank. Maybe why I do not need a chiller. Time will tell.

Plants: 3x THC BOMB Fem

2x Cherry Kush Fem (I normally do not like to mix strains in this system. I had a few die on me.)

Room is custom and still taking time to get tuned in (Pre-planning force was not fully with me) This is the first time I am trying this grow. I started off with soil, moved to coco and now learning hydroponics

These plants are around 3 weeks old. There was many issues, some went a bit funky but did recover. I have one that is still working on recovering. But I was also building the room around these plants at the time.

I plan to scrog these with a net that will allow for a second net to go on top, will be working on making this today. I will also post some pictures later today. I just set up their light timers, they have been on 24/0 time. I am switching them to 18/6 (I think every living things needs rest.)

Yes my PPM is high, it normally is. Right now there are no signs of nute burn and the plants have a nice green to them. I added the nutes to around 75% of what the instructions stated to do. So if it was 15ml, I cut that down to maybe 10ml per gallon. My tank is a 55 res with around 36 gallons in it.

I really do not understand the PPM system. I seen more people say “I made my PPM 500” Not sure how one does that less they are not using the recommended dosage by the maker, Maybe they are making their own?

During Bloom mode I will stop using rapid root and I will use Kool bloom liquid for the first half and then kool bloom powder for near the rest. During the final maybe seven days I will flush using florakleen. I am also thinking about using florakleen when I switch from veg to bloom, I have never done this before.

I did some cleaning on two and lost a bit by bending them down. They are more advanced in their growth so giving time to catch up. I also did some cropping on them to make them start to make more branches.

I am working on Scrooge net now will post another picture when done.

Fixed up floor with plastic. Quad layers for better wear. Rue did some ventilation, was having heat issues. Had to move ac unit up, I am also using ac unit as a fan, has a swing option. I don't know if I will keep doing that due to blowing cold air on them.

No Scrog net, still fixing tent, need to make doors to start getting negative pressure. Put filter on floor. It I do not like it. I think I am going to make a floating filter that will move up and down with lights. This would be to shortened the vent hose.

Right now I do have both LED's and the 600 hps on. I want to see if I can get them to stretch a bit. They had been vegged under led, didn't have all lights and cooling system in at the top me. Plan is to veg for another 1-2 weeks.

Topped off Rez tank, 6 gallons. Ppm in 1400s now.

Blue buckets are the Strawberry Kushs. The smaller one is recovering, it went goofy on me. But so did the one in the way back on the left, and it recovered to where you would of never known there was an issue. I am expecting that this one will recover as well, saw some new good growth on it today.

Today is really the first few days that all three lights have been on.

Added foam insulation on floor will do outer wall when I make door opening. I built frame for Scrog not netted yet. I went with a floating Scrog because it just makes sense.

I made Scrog frame go around humidifier I don't want it blowing hot air from under. This means I lose about the a foot. Space is around 6x2.5 growing space.

I did some lst training, just flattened to start spreading them out. I did pinch the tops off they are growing in nice. Also the strawberry kush is recovering and I think in one or two weeks I should be were in need to switch.

I filled 21 gallons ro water.

Nutes:
7 Tbs cal mag ( 5ml/1 tsp a gallon)
3.5 Tbs armor ( 2.5ml/.5 tsp a gallon)
2.5 Rapid Root ( 10ml/2 tsp every 5 gallons)

14 Tbs Gro ( 10ml/2 tsp a gallon)
14 Tbs Micro
7 Tbs bloom

2 tsp white shark.

PPM: 2040
Ph: 5.6
Temp: 61

I have used this combo before but never checked ppm, seems very high I will watch for nute burn. I am going near full strength from recommend dose, but I do hold back about 25% on flora.

I did super crop the two in the back. I may only do to them so I can compare to the others. They say this allows for nutes to get to shoot eaiser. So I like to see the effect of a super crop scrog.

i lst my larry og . and it broke the branch during its stretch . i dont think it will recover. ouch

O that sucks. Is it in flower?

I broken off before, I slapped some duct tape on there few days a nice knuckle was made.

Net added, adjustable holes but mostly going for 2". Need to fix room for sides to open up then will start the training. Net is set at 19".

I am also doing folier sprays on the small one started today.

I did super cropping to the two Thc bombs in the back like to see how it results out. Did some pruning and lst as well. Letting them repair will see how they look in a week.

I did remove the hps I don't like it. I will stick with pure led, so right now I am running the two California light works 440w by them self. I can definitely tell the difference.

I never grown smaller plants, not a fan so far but we will see soon what they can do. I also currently do have an issue with the CLW lights. I have contacted them and will see. I hear they are good about their warrenties.

I been doing lst training and super cropping. Trying to get most shoots near the same height before I switch.

I have issues with both of my 440w support did get back to me told me to ship lights to them. So I have been looking for another led light that I can use to use while I send them to be fixed. So far their support is right on point with returns. They told me they have a turn around time of 24-48 hours. In shipping time that's 10 days.

I don't think I will be getting another CLW, I do have a few options in mins. Plus I think it be cool to do some compare grows.

Lights are sitting at 25 inches during veg.

The ones on the left are cherry pie, I had a few issues since I was still building around them and one was a mutant that I brought back to life. M
The cherry pies are about 1-2 weeks behind the Thc bombs.

The Thc bombs are cool, they are like bushes and they Lov to be trained and pruned. I can clear out slot and lollipop and they bounce back and get bushy again with in a day. Same with super cropping. So far both plants are not picky with hi nutes.

Tallest plant from the rim is 8 inches. Seems so small, but lot of branching. When I goto bloom I will drop Scrog net I expect near a foot of stretch.

Thanks I was updating another spot, but it's becoming a jungle soon while I wait for new light heh. My first semi type Scrog, I am going to change method next time I do Scrog. Next grow only going to do 2 plants and test new light against my current. I am wondering about the cob hype.

I been reading this, http://www.growweedeasy.com/scrog-tutorial I like the way he grew his Scrog and like to try it more like the next time.
