Hydro ph

I’m aware that the PH in hydro will increase slightly when plants are feeding. However, when. I mix my nutrients to 5.4, 12 hours later when I check it it is at 6.3 or higher. I run an air stone in my 55gallon drum ebb and flow system. Last weekend I mixed my nutrients and let my system flood 6 times a day for 3 days before putting my newly rooted clones in. ( I was super busy from work and didn’t have to time plant my clones) my ph was now at 6.8. I had no plants in my system and my ph was rising and this is the same issue I’m having when I have my plants in my system. Why did my ph rise with no plants in the system? How can I control this? Is it the air stone?

Is use silica too which I know rises it but I think it’s the air stone. I’m going to try to get a recirculating pump. Does hydroponics need to be aerated?

Haven't hydro-ed in years but i used a water pump in the bottom of the tank to circulate the nutes/water to the top of tank where it poured in again, worked well.
Why so low a pH, 5.4?

Yea, I used hydroton too. I think new hydroton caused pH to rise until it stabilised.
I set pH 5.8 - 6.0
