Hydro-seed starting

hey i'm a guerrilla grower, and i have seen a whole bunch of other guerrilla growers using hydro systems to start off their babies. I was wondering if this is a good strategy, because I have started off seeds outdoors, and they have been attacked by animals, and chewed up.

I was also wondering how you would go about transferring your plant from the hydro system to the grow site which is outdoors.
