Hydrotron VS others

Im new to this and trying to figure out what What is the best to grow hydro in? what is the cheapest? I know theres rocks, rockwool and clay . Does it effect the way it grows?

I am a beginner when it comes to hydro, ive always grown in soil but i have been trying to learn and study up on hydro... but anyways for myself, i used rockwool cubes and hydrotron and i was able to get things going no prob. Both of which at my local hydroponics store were very cheap.

I use the fired clay pellets,unlike rockwool and co co, pellets do not need to be ph balanced before use.Pellets can be washed and reused unlike other mediums.
For my starter cubes i use Oasis horticubes,they do not need to be ph balanced either.OPH
