Start with good soil and good ammendments I.E. foxfarm ocean forest soil with blood and bone meal as well as worm castings mixed in and maybe even some kelp meal as well. Oh don't forget the perlite. But most important is start with good genetics they will make things a lot easier for you. Anything else I can help with just ask

I agree pH pen and EC/PPM meter are definite musts, i always start with a lightMix soil for potting up which has a good balance of initial nutrients and mean's they only need pH balanced water for the first week. Ideal 5.5-6.2 on ph, always slightly acidic in my experience works well. This is the case when using Ionic Soil anyway which is what i use but theres a huge variety of nutrients out there.

Ideally one light for every two plants but that also depends on which shade your using and what wattage it is. i have three 600W Dual spectrum bulbs in parabolic shades which gives a great dispersion of lumen's per plant from what ive seen. Dual spectrum bulbs mean you don't need to change between CFL and Sodium when altering from veg to flower, dual spec does both blue and red light and therefore its just your light pattern that needs changed.

18 hrs light 6 hrs dark for veg, 12/12 for flower is the recommeded but ultimately just do your research and find a way that works for you. every grow is different and depending on your strain/s may vary the outcome.

Good luck, look forward to hearing about your future successes
