I bought a fat bag of Earthworm Castings!

I've read that I should put these on the top of my soil, because when I water I will be releasing co2. Is there truth in this?

When I thought earthworm castings.. I was thinking dried out ones. These feel squishy and dank.

Does anyone else put them on top of their soil? Or should I mix them into my soil too? I use FFOF+perlite

help/advice would be greatly appreciated

My friend gave me a big bag a while back he told me to just mix it in evenly.I used ocean forest to,I didn't use any perlite though.I grew some monster plants that year it was outside.
If your skeptical about that you could put some on the top layer to.

earthworm castings are really common organic soil amendments, never heard the C02 thing before but who knows...

You can use it as a top dressing OR as a mixed in soil amendment. Rule of thumb I was taught is use it mixed in the soil for long term use (over a season say) and use it as a top dressing when you need more immediate N.

My grandma's gardening advise still rings in my ears...
