Now that I'm stepping up and building a flower room and veg room, a bubble cloner would be alot easier, so I built a small bubble cloner to take a crack at cloning hydro style,tried soiless mixture,DSC00035.jpgDSC00036.jpgDSC00037.jpgDSC00038.jpg no luck, tried 50% pearlite and 50% vermiculite works great, until you transplant, it crumbles real easy, so I thought would give the bubble cloner a try

do you need to use a dome or are they good with out one

Well, yes and no! In your case, it looks like the foam plugs you're using to hold the clones in place; completely keep all the bubbling action under the lid (and inside the reservoir). So you probably do need a dome of some sort.

An alternate type of "holder" could be used that would allow some of the bubbles to come through the holes in the lid and keep the clone leaves moistened (think of a short piece of "drinking straw", held vertical by two pieces of wire wrapped around the straw - and held in place by the four wire ends resting on top of the lid). You put the clone cutting right in the staw (as if it were a vase). That would give you plenty of moisture without a dome.

hey straightjacket questions its my first time using a bubble cloner need some info

1 do the clones stay above the water and get misted or do you submerge the clones in the water and leave them there for how long

2 lights 24/7 for how long, then 18/6 for a while correct ??? I grow in a soiless mixture so the clones roots should be about 1 1/2'' to 2" long to plant correct ???

3 straight tap water with the ph 5.4 to 5.8 correct ??? is there any additives I could add to ensure healthy and happy plants

4 how often do change your water

5 some of the clones look a little slimy is that normal for only two days into being bubbled

6 I'm using a heat mat under the reservior set at 75 degrees what is the best temp for the water to grow heathly roots DSC00039.jpg

1. Some are in the water some aren't, doesn't seem to matter.
2. I've used both, they both work fine. I certainly don't switch from 24/7 to 18/6part way thru. I have been using 24/7 cause my timer crapped out. I replaced it and am back to 18/6 now.
3. Straight tap water. I don't adjust ph. the ph for my water is around 7 according to the little swimming pool test kit i used last year.
4. Every week or so.
5. I don't know bout slime. Don't sound like somethin good lol.
6. I use a heat mat. it has 3 settings I use high. Got no idea what the temp is.
