This was my first time growing......I germinated my seeds first then I went to go buy some fox farm. Ocean forest soil and. 2 growing pots they were lest then a gallon...and then I purchased a t5 6500K flor liight....I planted my seeds in the middle they wasn't that deep the head of seed was kinda still showing but it was covered wit soil...and I had the flo liight over them about 2 or maybe 3 inches above them and ithe temperature in my growing closet was around 88F..and da humidity was around 35%...and I waited over 3 days to see would they be above soil...but they wasn't so I bought a humiditfier and places it in there the humidity leve went up to around 60% and da degrees was around 79degrees...then sumtin told me to check the seeds so I took them out of the pot and one had a brown shrivled root and the other was brown and shrivled on top but it was whiite at the bottom and was kinda long..but not that long....could some one please help me....was it too much liight or not enough water???...or is it my soil??....I have new seeds germinating riight now...please tell me a better way to grow em...thanks

keep the soil moist untill they are starting thier first set of leaves. warm at that. light has nothing to do with getting them outta the ground. its when they come out is when it matters. goodtimez

wrap em in a wet paper towel until a singular white root grows abotu an inch, then place that in your soil and ur plant will grow
from what u described, it sounds like that tap root began to rot/die

the PH was to high or to low
and/or there was fertilizers in the soil.

plant a seed that has split and is showing a root, into a cube or in your soil and keep them warm and moist...they don't need light until they have a leaf.
soak soil in a 5.9PH solution to get it close, but you can use soil test kits.
If you are doing hydro grow or a soil grow you can use the small grodan plugs soaked in a 5.9ph R.O. water for a while to make them the correct PH.

I place all my styrofoam cups in a circle together, and place a black garbage bag over them, place them near a window, and witin a few days they all pop ground. The black bag method is used by alot of commercial farmers on there fields...as well as nursery's, it creats a warm very hummid enviroment which stimulates root devolopment. You shouldn't need to water them at all as the warm hummidity will will keep the soil moist...at least i haven't had to water them.

I have found that some city water to be devestating to plants...where i live the water sucks...so i buy 18L jugs of reverse-osmosis water, and the plants love it...if you live in an area that gets rain...use that...the plats will love it even more!

The fox farms ocean forest is too strong for seedlings, read widowmakers guide. That is exactly what was wrong. Use rockwool or something else to start out seedlings. Good luck with your next grow. Sorry dude.

There is nothing wrong with FFOF from seed.

Here is a video of 4 day old seeds from Attitude, straight into FFOF, 18/6, 200w+ of cfl's, ph water of 6.0 and cheap humidity domes. I put soil into my pot, poked a hole about nail deep, dropped my seed in, sprayed it with my water bottle, gently covered it with more soil and sprayed it heavily until I thought the water reached the seed and left them alone for a few days

I just got to be honest and say that yeah you should do that black bag method and there is nothing wrong with that soil I use it all the time. Just keep at it
