I got my recommendation!

Hey Folks!

I got my recommendation last Thursday! I have chronic back pain, scoliosis, degenerating discs, I hurt all the time. I have always just dealt with it and ignored the pain. My pain finally got to the point I had to do something, and prescription pills were not going to be it.

Even with the doctor's recommendation, is there a chance that the Department of Public Health will deny my paperwork? I looked around online and it looked like the only way to get denied is if there was some error in the paperwork.

Now the only question is, what am I going to do while I wait for the department of public health to approve and mail me my card. Does it really take 10 days? Will it take longer? Anyone suggestions on things to do to kill time?

-Best Regards

Congrats on getting your Arizona medical marijuana recommendation!

Yes, it takes all of the 10 days to get the card from what I remember It was a long 10 days.

However, you can check online ahead of time to see if you're approved.

Here is the AZ Medical Marijuana website: http://www.azdhs.gov/medicalmarijuana/

Hahaha. I am pretty much stalking the website. I cannot possibly see any reason for the state to deny me. I have lumbar right simple scoliosis switching into a left rotatory scoliosis of the upper lumbar and lower thoracic spine, lumbar hyperlordosis, neuropathy, neuralgia, splinting muscle spasms, and myofascitis. I have degenerative changes at the S1 and L5 spinal disc level. L5 disc is graded at a D4, while the L4 disc is a D1 on the Gonstead intervertebral disc listing chart. Medical jargon that means all my pain isn't in my head.

I am at the point I cannot walk more than five minutes without feeling as if someone hit me in the back with a hammer.

Oh well, what is a few more days. I have not consumed marijuana in over five years. I was a over the road truck driver. No doctor would pass me on a DoT physical. I am going on disability. I never wanted anything from the government, I was raised to take care of myself, but I am at the point I just cannot do it anymore.

Just a few more days!

Sorry to hear about the discomfort from your injuries. I am getting ready to renew my card in the next month. But if I recall correctly, you should be approved the minute you receive your receipt from the state ($150 fee or $75 for TANF recipients) that includes your AZQP#. Someone else please chime in here if I am mistaken.

I remember being told by Greenstar Doctors that that receipt and AZQP# was enough to legally have and use cannabis. You can't go into a dispensary with it, but who would want to smoke the shit they offer anyway?!?

Good luck with feeling better!

It has been five days since I paid the state, they took the money out of my bank account. As for checking my AZQP# it just says, "Your application has been received by the program."

I live in a small town and we only have one dispensary, I am not looking forward to paying the 20$ a gram +tax for my medicine. Basically black market prices. I hope at least what they offer is decent. I have not gone into the dispensary as of yet. Everything I read said you cannot purchase your medicine till you receive your card in the mail.

Hi Parsley
you will prolly [most likely] have to hook up with a grower to get anything decent and for a reasonable donation.
I have heard of prices ranging $30-$40/gr for "top shelf" meds [FLOWERS] in Tucson.

I still can't believe how negative everyone is to the dispensaries. Are they all really that bad, over priced, and that low quality?

I really wish they would get rid of that stupid 25 mile rule. I would much prefer to grow my own medicine.

For most patients, the dispensaries are fine. But with over 50,000 patients in the state, if only 20% are dissatisfied with them, those 10,000 who don't like them can be very vocal.

The dispensaries are fine for me so far. Yeah, sure, sometimes flowers aren't cured enough or something. But it all gets the job done, and some of it works great. Your results may vary.

And if you haven't ever used a vaporizer, you should at least try it. Much easier on the throat and lungs, plus with vaping you can use a lot less, which would reduce your flower cost.

I definitely want to get into vaporizing, unfortunately I am on a fixed monthly budget, so starting out I just have a little bowl ready and waiting. If my card ever gets here. Wednesday will be day ten of the "state ten day average waiting time."

yes...vaping saves a lot of wear and tear.
Do not buy a junk vape. They are a tease.
I use and can highly recommend an SSV [SilverSurferVaporizer]. It is a medium/high end table top unit. You won't have to buy 3 or 4 lesser ones before you get satisfied...honest
