I got robbed!!

After being here for nearly a decade, it was finally my turn to get robbed. I've never been pickpocketed but nearly all of my friends have.

I decided to get up early (9:30am) because I was helping my disreputable friend move house. Due to my smoking and driving policy I requested that we started early.

I went to my bike to get to hers in good time and it had vanished! It just wasn't there! I knew I was looking in the right place because I parked the car right in front of it when I returned from shopping yesterday. I would've paid someone to take a picture of my face, I was shocked!

I saw the neighbours and asked them. This was strange because I'd seen it at midnight and now it was gone?! I've had it for over 3 years and it only cost me a few hundred euros.

The law here in Spain regarding bike insurance is that you can't get theft cover on a 49cc so you never get an expensive one, just in case.

I called my friend to inform her that I wasn't coming and proceeded with getting docs together to call the police and the tow truck dept. Neither had it. I had to report it in case it was used in a crime.

It's really hilly where I live, there are even outdoor escalators so this made me wonder. I couldn't start it with the ignition the other day and didn't move it before midnight because of my new trainers. I would've had to kick start it and maybe get dirty.

My non theft cover insurance runs out in 3 days and costs about the same as the bike so I start to see the bright side about not paying another years insurance for nothing etc. I'd also not replaced the mirror, recovered the seat or straightened the front wheel steering.

How did they take it if they couldn't hot wire it? My friend suggested that they picked it up in a van but I dismissed this because it didn't have enough value for a prof job. I suspected kids had taken it, broken the steering lock and may the ignition barrel and then pushed /kicked it.

I asked a bin cleaning man in the street if he'd seen it and he hadn't. My bf and I walked downhill around the block to have a look. When he realized I left the bike docs at home he wanted to go back. I returned after a while and found my bike 50 meters from where we were and next to some bins!! . It was propped up on its side stand (now broken) with the ignition intact!!!! I couldnt believe it! Even the steering lock works which means I probably didn't put it on! I got my bike back without too much damage!!

I want to buy a bigger bike now so that I can get theft cover. I need a new bike anyway. I had a chain but my mechanic lost it. I will get another one now. Happy ending! :)

Wow, are you lucky! I had my car stolen a little over a year ago, and I had the same shocked look on my face, I'm sure. I thought that I'm such a stoner, I may have parked it elsewhere. I took my ebike out to search, but after a few miles of concentric circling, I knew it was gone. I called the cops and wished for the first time in my life that my car had been towed. No such luck. After I filled out a stolen car report at the local LEO station, a young cop said they'd call if they found anything. I asked if they ever really found cars, and he replied with brusk 'no'. What really hurt was the thousand dollars of stuff in the back, music equipment, bike shit, etc..Fuck it, I got a better car, but still I hope the fucking thieves wrecked in it and died...

I am but I'm sure it's happened to others. The thing is that you don't know what condition you will find it in and without theft cover you have no choice when you find it.
I need to check the brakes etc tomorrow but it seems fine.

I was already planning on getting a T Max or X Max, oh well!

It sucks having stuff stolen. Good to hear you got it back. Some people broke into my house not too long ago and stole a couple thousand worth of stuff, cash, my birth cert social card... had to call the police and hope they didnt smell any flowers. The worse part is it was one of my friends and i wont get my stuff back except a few things the cops are holding as evidence. Insurance said if it was less than $5,000 stolen it wouldnt be worth claiming because of a $2k deductable then they jack up your rates.

You are lucky you found it.

I hope you get it back or that it works out for the best @lahadaextranjera . Check back with the police every now and then. Here in the States, a joyride is common - then when the police finally find it, they impound it for a few week$ before calling you. Edit: Oh, shit. I should have finished that.

Saw that movie about 5 times and I don't even remember that scene. Maybe I should cut back on the weed ;)

Here's a really odd robbery story: about 7 months ago I get into my new car and realize that all the shit from my glove box was layed out neatly on the passenger seat. My 160 gig iPod classic was missing (I left it in the fucking window mount, which probably attracted the thief in the first place), but not the ipod's cords or anything else. They didn't even break the window, they probably had a keyless remote cloner and simply opened the car that way. I've never felt such a strange mixture of appreciation and violation simultaneously, it was the most courteous robbery I've ever encountered...

I had my car stolen 2 years ago. Parked it in a lot, went out drinking, woke up next day and it was gone. Police found it 3 days later with only the passenger side rear window smashed and the passenger side floor mat stolen.

Moral of both our stories is drunk people do some fucked up things.

And then the lil buggers will steal the new one. Since you're an ex-pat Brit, I suggest you make a call to Liam Neeson, he'll take care of it for you

my same van,,a 2003 Econoline 150 has been broken into 3 times,,,mostly tools and small change were taken,,,last time it was broken into was in my current driveway at night,,next day was a work day and because I leave early it was dark when I hopped in,,started the van,,,hit the power button on the stereo and no sound came out,,,for a second I was like WTF is wrong with this piece of crap,,turn on the interior light to have a better look and I notice my amp is gone, all connections were undone,,not just stripped or cut,,pretty sure it was a semi inside job,,but can't prove,,and since I went and got a new amp the next day it doesn't bother me too much,,,but had I caught the person,,it wouldn't be I got robbed,it woulda been who got killed

Not too shabby of a robbery good sir in Spain. I wish u good safety.

I had my 49ccbike stolen from my Fucking back door in a minimal metal fenced community. I was awake saw them called cops they didn't do shit and accused me of having drug money related issues and asked if I was high. I'm not kidding

I took a pic some days later come to find out it is my neighbor. Cops didn't do shit on a follow up

My bike was dumped on a trail and ignition was popped and the Colorado Springs police wanted me to pay several hundred to obtain my own vehicle back and pay a late fee because the mail to inform of the impounded bike came days late, USPS fault

Shit happened on my b day too. Lost my girlfriend of since high school a day after.

I still think about it till this day.

It got worse. Decided to pack up bags and move despite having renewed an apartment lease for 12 months thus needing to pay several hundred... plus our new car at that time was almost broken into. I was awake that night too.

I AM DOOM. YOU WILL RECOGNIZE ME AS WORLD LEADER
