I had a plant that wasn't doing so well in soil so I decided to move it to hydro.

OK this plant is only about 2" tall and is 1 and 1/2 month old. She just refused to grow. It looks healthy as can be, and the root system was surprisingly large for such a tiny plant. Roots were about 5" in length after i flushed with Distilled water. I halved a rock wool cube and shredded the bottom to give some space for the roots, shut it like a clam shell on it. I suspended it over a verry diluted nut solution. It seems to be doing fine so far, but I'm still confused at the slow growth on top. It looks like a normal 1 week old. How can a plant have the roots of a 5 or 6 week plant and look like it just popped up. it only has its first real leafs plus the 2 little round seed leafs. It is under a 600 MH bulb. At a decent distance to not be burned, and since i moved to rock wool also under humidity dome.

Different medium I have plants 2 1/2 months old only 1 inch,i can keep them alive for the next grow, and they will flourish once i change the medium.I can also grow a 1 inch bud on them plants if i want to.Sometimes certain plants need specific mediums and conditions in order to thrive. You should Read about specific climates for your strain it helps a lot.
