I have a ? about uv bulbs?...and light periods.

Ok this may be just a "" ? so shoot it down early if the thread is dumb.
I have read about changing light periods to simulate 3 light cycles per 72 hours.
And i was also reading about how uv bulbs work and why they work so........
if you were to only use the uv bulb during the six hours of light that they get wouldnt it make the plant "believe" the sun is really intense and try to use it as much as it can in its short period of time that it gets light.....partnered with the fact that its seeing "quicker" day periods 6 on 12 off 6 on etc. Can this shorten the time it takes to raise a plant to maturity. A day to us is 24 hours based on sun and time, they view it by light to dark periods. So if u were do this for 60 days of flower the plant would thinks its been 80 days.....more "mature" right ?

you may be on to something ?? think ill do some reading...... the plant doesnt know there is 24 hours in a day right!!

No it doesn't but you will stress the plant more likely than not - If you're looking for "the better mousetrap" then look at the proven methods of increasing quality/quantity of your harvest. Lights, Temp, Nutes, Ventilation, growing method. People have been looking for the "silver bullet" to growing when it is right beneath our noses. Basics done to perfection is what gives optimum growth/quality of smoke.

True true maybe if you drastrically changed the light cycle but say u started from seed or clone on 12-12 and went to 6-12-6-12 etc in flower would that be to much for the plant to withstand....dont know just some ?'s logically it makes sense but ive learned that logic isnt always the best......of course the basics needed for growing would be implemented but an additional "boost" in flower.

I suppose an unusual light sked might work & even might work better but I have the opportunity to grow only once a year & I tend to stick solidly with the organic basics.

In order to properly evaluate results, one would have to have 2 identical grow chambers, use genitally identical clones, and do everything exactly the same changing only the light sked for a test to have any credibility.
I wish I had the room/time to do that !

I'm germing seeds now just to conduct experiment.......bagseed, same bud, gonna run cfl's on both with equal nutes and soil conditions....may do hempy on both but that is still undecided. only diff is on one ill add in uv bulbs, somethin small so as not to overstress the plant but strong enough so i can tell a diff.....I'll start a grow journal soon as eggs crack....wish me luck and hopefully knowledge....may have to wait a couple weeks if i want to use genetically identical clones.....my friends havent shown sex yet.

Using clones would give more accurate results as you don't know anything about the seed strain you are using. Even if seeds came from the same bag does not mean they are identical.
But, I'm still interested in the results.

very true ill just use the clones gotta wait a week or so to see if sex is shown....ur right though i was lil fried when i wrote that....ill just have to buy that aerogarden ive been wanting and toss the seeds in there.......for the experiment should i just go soil so it will be more stable as opposed to hempy ....what way would you all suggest......thanks for talkin me through this idea.......also has anyone ever seen a timer that will allow time settings by a 3 day period cuz the 6-12-6-12 thing with a regular timer is too much responsibility for a smoker wit 3 dogs a child and a wife....
