I have some concerns about my diy grow box ventalation

Specs I'm going to build it to are 3x3x5 made with plywood sealed with cocking. Aswell I'm using a 400wat hps/ mh setup aswell.

Q.1) would it be possible to hang my grow light an just put a large house fan inside to keep it cool?

Q.3) Aswell I don't have a cool tube just the reflector but could I make my vent setup as easy as just the fan->the carbon filter attachment, when I stick it through the top of the grow box there's about a 1/3inch gap of metal I'm woundering is it possible to just let the fan suck the air out that close to the filter or will it just push the smell through ?
If anyone has any tips aswell for indoor aptment growing I'd love to hear it , I'm not able to vent outside!!

your doomed .......
1 no that will not move enough air for u
2 u need a cooltube in that small of a area open reflectors are ment for large open areas so the heat can raise like a surplus light in a green house

your options are not good for MH/HPS with out dumping the hot air outside your air u will be running the AC on maximum still coming up hot in the house (unless it like a 2 ton just for that room )

u need to go LED ........as for the Carbon filter a simple 4 inch unit will do u fine hooked to a 4 inch 100cfm booster fan .......seal the holes up top smell and light leaks
as for the intake air u need a 8x8 inch hole for passive or u can get a 4 inch 70 cfm booster fan (u will maintain negative pressure when the door is closed with the 30 cfm extra on the exhaust)

Yea I actually had found a small cheap filter I'll use , yea that makes a lot of sense I might aswell spend the extra 25$ for the cool tube , I just can't find any online fans that are cheap like at Home Depot they have booster fans that will plug in and are rated at 240cfm would these work in conjunction with my 4inch filter? If I were able to throw in the booster fan and the house fan it should be alright I think and I do have a large ac unit actually lmao

u are stuck with a 6 inch becuase of the cooltube but the fan has to be matched to the filter a 240 cfm will be to weak with a carbon filter on it (matching the fan to the filter the who filter is used if u go to under powered the same carbon is always getting used so the filter does not last as long)

Well I have found those two suncourt fan boosters are pumping about 200cfm each for 40$ Could I just hook two up to give me the same effect ? Instead of paying 150.. I aswell am making my own carbon filter so I have no worrys on size

your building the carbon filter (odds are u are going to mess up and the filter will only be effective for a short time not the full 12/15 months like store ones)

doing it on the cheap will cost u more later ..........i learned that less the hard way growing

i am telling u go a faster speed fan ........that fan matches that filter
1 your not dumping the used hot air out
2 your area is small with a MH/HPS ....MH bulbs are about 40% IR heat HPS is 70% IR heat

your heat build up is going to be very fast on flowering ..........if u were LED i say u are good but u are going HPS

Yea I totally see where your coming from now the cons have started to out weigh, my quick start up grow lol so I'm just going to buy the tent kit complete off of htgsupply lol thank you very much for the input aswell I just don't know enough about LED I know and have seen some awesome grows but I have also seen some terrible fails just can't seem to believe they work as well as people say and I don't have the knowledge of using them

^^^^What he said, plus you've got some serious security issues coming up if you live in an apartment and try to go cheap like that. At a minimum I suggest going with the commercially made scrubber.
